Frequently Asked Questions

Caring For your Pottery

My ceramic pieces are designed to be cared for in the same manner as any other stoneware, porcelain, or ceramic dishware. They are dishwasher safe*, though hand-washing can help to maintain the beauty of the pottery’s finish for a lifetime.

Avoid thermal shock when using stoneware. Do not scrub with harsh abrasives such as steel wool or scouring pads. Do not put ceramic teapots on the stove to heat water, as they are not kettles and will crack.

*Pots with real gold lustre are not dishwasher safe or microwave safe due to containing metal.

Do you ship outside of Canada?

Shipping Policy & Store Availability

Due to the rising costs of parcel shipping from Canada, along with the nature of pottery being both delicate and heavy to ship, I only currently offer shipping within Canada to best ensure my work arrives safely and quickly to its destination. My apologies for any inconvenience.

I currently offer Canada-wide shipping and free YXE delivery, but I hope to expand into international shipping in the future.

Please email me at heatherartwork@outlook.com if you have any issues with your order. If an item arrives broken, a full refund (minus shipping cost) will be issued if you notify me within 14 days of the delivery with details regarding your delivery’s damage. If you’d prefer a replacement, I can recreate the item and schedule it for my soonest kiln firing (barring any supply issues for materials). Orders are shipped out on weekdays, and I typically try to ensure items are enroute within 4 business days of an order being placed (barring holidays or other post office closures).

Please note that I close my shop during times of travel, and when I am attending craft faires. My apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

Don’t see the pottery you’re looking for? Check out my stock at Handmade House Saskatoon! I try to keep a good selection of work with them at all times.

Do you take custom orders?

NOTE: My commissions and custom orders are currently closed, my apologies. I hope to open them up again soon!

I am able to create custom art and pottery to order. If you are looking for more info on commissioned work, email me at Heatherartwork@outlook.com!

For traditional art commissions, I am currently open to projects in gouache, ink and in graphite. If you enjoy my style and have an idea, I’d be thrilled to create something special for you! I can also provide upon request some examples of my commission work that is not found on my public portfolio/social media. My turnaround is typically 2 1/2 - 3 1/2 weeks once the design has been finalized.

Digital art commissions and flat price D&D character portraits are available as well (for prices and examples please see the banner on my “Artwork” page).

For pottery orders, I can take orders of 8-10 pieces at a given time. For examples of the clay and glaze colours I currently have available, please see my shop. I specialize in teaware, dishware, and altar accoutrements, but I’m open to all ideas and will create new designs if they’re within my ability to produce. Typical turnaround for pottery orders is slightly longer than an art commission, as the drying and process of both firings takes many days. 3-4 weeks is my typical turnaround barring kiln issues or material shortages.
